The U.S. Coast Guard and Honolulu Fire Department are searching Tuesday for a missing scuba diver near Makaha Beach Park on Oahu.

The U.S. Coast Guard and Honolulu Fire Department are searching Tuesday for a missing scuba diver near Makaha Beach Park on Oahu.

Watchstanders at Sector Honolulu Command Center received notification from one of the divers reporting an overdue 50-year-old man, identified as JJ Jackson, last seen at 8:15 p.m. Monday approximately one mile off Makaha Beach Park, the Coast Guard reported Tuesday morning. He was wearing a black wetsuit and scuba gear.

Watchstanders launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point. A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Station Honolulu, and Coast Guard Cutter Kittiwake, an 87-foot coastal patrol boat homeported in Honolulu, also launched to assist with the search. Also participating in the search are one Honolulu Fire Department dive boat and one jet ski.
